Are Singaporeans Good?

$
0

We always like to complain that Singaporeans are Kiasu, Kiasee, selfish amongst many other problems but are Singaporean "Good"?

What do other Singaporeans really think of Singaporeans? Like pointed out in an article on businessinsider "How to Piss Off A Singaporean"-

"We complain about anything and everything, and we’re good at it, too. From the influx of foreigners to the train system breaking down, or the long queues to get the latest Hello Kitty toy from McDonald’s, you’re bound to find various Singaporeans ranting about it via a simple Google search.
But think twice before you leave a disparaging remark about Singapore, because while we may strive to be a cosmopolitan city, we are still very much Asian at heart — only Singaporeans are allowed to complain about Singapore."

So are Singaporeans good or we just simply complain too much when we have time? The good people from DoGoodSg did a little exercise with some of the famous and infamous voices of the local social media scene asking - Singaporeans good or not?

Look! That's the handsome Smith Leong!

Me being me, my review will never be that short, so I have to give it to these good people who helped me paraphrased it. Here's the original:

"人之初,性本善。From Chinese Three Character Classic which mean "People at birth, Are naturally good." But these days, many likes to call us the "Ugly Singaporean" and I believe that is partly due to our competitive nature of current society. Many of us has forgotten on how to show patience and compassion to others in daily situation. That being said, we still see many individuals who will go on volunteer trips to help the less fortunate overseas. So are we good or not?"

So are we good or not?

Mr.Smith, I don't know about you, but I am good lah.

Movie Review: Planes

This is a poster from another country. It is flying into Singapore cinemas this coming 5th Sept.

Funny story, when I 1st saw this movie trailer in the cinema without knowing what show it was, I had a funny conversation with my wife which went something like this:

Me: Wah, all this planes quite cute. looks like from cars.

Wife: Ya, from the way the graphic looks should be same creator.

Me: Wonder what is the title, I wanna watch it when it's out.

Wife: doh, the other was cars this has to be planes right?

So, she got it right at the end of the trailer when the title was reviewed.

So we don't expect much of a twist in anything coming from a movie with a title that straight forward. The show is really one of the text book, underdog turn working class super hero feel good movie.

No big surprises but I must say this is one of those shows that you have to bring your kids to the cinema for. The execution was really good and the story was well, like I mentioned - feel good. You will come out of the cinema feeling good like you can achieve anything and everything. Best part, you wouldn't find a kid not understanding the story and needs too much of an explanation during the show.

My favorite plane - El Chupacabra!
So should you watch this? YES! In fact I so want to go to Toys R Us and collect the toys too!

I wonder if they are going to have :Trains, Ship, Boat, Bikes, Bicycle or whatever other transport to follow and grow this universe. It's kinda cute actually!

Did somebody say train?

Why is body wash better than soap bar? A Passion Goat Milk Bath Series Review.

Although I may be a little feminine at times but end of the day a man being a man, I pay very little attention to what I use for my shampoo or bath in the shower. Since a young age, it's always taken care by my mum and the option for my mum is always getting the most value for money one. Not the cheapest but value for money so I don't really care about what brand of body wash I use.
I like to play with my.. koff.. rubber ducky in the shower.
That being said, I still enjoy my baths and showers a lot considering how hot and humid Singapore is. I spent so much time in the shower each day trying to stay fresh and smell nice nice.

Frankly, I think that is quite a bad start for my post. Which is why I'm not a beauty blogger i guess. :X

Anyway, I was introduced to this Passion Goat Milk Bath Series and I'm actually sold on this product.

The Passion Goat Milk Bath Series actually comes in 5 different choices; the Reishi Extract, Brown Rice, Tsubaki, Collagen and Lavendar.

I was actually very excited by the Collagen one as it seems to be the in thing in all products. From consumption to skin care to coffee and now even body wash! So ALL my skin will remain tight and sexy? :X

ATTENTION! Very pretty right?
However I still went with trying the Lavender one 1st as I'm the lavendar kinda guy. I really like the lavender smell for most products.

Came in 1st in the beauty contest. :p
Sorry for the ugly picture but.. erm..
The main reason why I choose to try the Lavender one 1st is because it's a flower body wash and you know how some flower's product can be very overwhelming but guess what? This smells about right for me and I really liked it! And it's suppose to keep our dry skin hydrated.

This product can be found at NTUC, WATSONS, SHENG SIONG or MUSTAFA! Usual retail price is at $6.90 and now it's only selling at $5.90.

For more information, do check out their website.

Oh! And why is it always better to use body wash over soap bar?

Mr.Smith, drop drop drop.

Singapore Biggest Soap Box Derby IS BACK!

It seems like it was yesterday when I first visited RaceMe 2012 and before I know it, it's already time for RaceMe 2013! And this time round instead of the cold and big Expo Hall the event took place at an outdoor venue at NUS! It did rained earlier in the day so the weather was really cooling and not too hot for anything.

So this year besides the change of venue, we had more outdoor games as well as! So all the kids who ain't participating can still have their fair share of fun!

No soap box? You can race too!
And something I really look forward to after being part of the event last year was to look at how beautiful are the soap boxes! They all look so pretty!

Look at this one and remember this one. You will see it later on in style.
When this crashes. This is a breaking news.
Done with flying and all, Tony goes on group with Toggle.
This is not only pretty but it also went really fast. I guess the aero dynamic body did help.
From the movie - TURBO!
This is one of my favorite! Sleek and stylish. Very different from the rest. And also because...
It is the SMITH Machine!
And this is Minion Team 1.

So the news is out, Ris Low is now on BIG screen! (Pun intended.)

In case you have no clue, this is Ris Low:

Ris Low Fat
Yes, the same Ris Low that goes Boomz.

This was her before she boomz-ed. Photo does not belong to me.
That's kinda a big change I guess. I mean size aside, I'm looking at the trailer of her new movie Justice Devil and it actually looks pretty good. Blood, rape, killing and tearing bodies apart. Pretty much like what we are getting from hollywood these days isn't it?  If you haven't watch it, check it out here:

I am actually really interested to watch this show. Anyone else?

pointed out by a friend. This trailer/film does looks like this one:

Worst Super Hero EVER!

$

And you thought super heroes like Batman and Ironman is really cool but not so "super" because they are just rich and that makes them lame; you have to know there are worst.

When I say worst I mean really really bad, he is so bad that when I was doing my research on "worst super hero" he was totally forgotten.

And you thought having any super power should easily make you really cool, think again.

Introducing Eye-Scream. He is a real super hero from Marvel and not made up by me.

Sorry I can't find a better picture of him.
His writeup from Marvel.com:

"Eye-Scream was born a mutant and at an early age discovered he had the "amazing" ability to turn into any flavor ice cream he wished. One day Eye-Scream decided to destroy the X-Men since their powers made his look stupid. He then devised a strategy in which to best destroy the X-Men. Months later he arrived at the Xavier Institute and snuck into the Mansion. A clown by the name of Obnoxio, however, was at the mansion at the time and helped the X-Men stop Eye-Scream by freezing him. After this event Eye-Scream dropped out of sight and has not been heard from since. It is unknown whether he was de-powered after the House of M ordeal or if he retained his powers."

Yes, his power is changing the freaking Ice-scream flavor. Like what? I guess the reason he dropped out is because he is currently working with Ben & Jerrys or something.

Mr.Smith, my superpower is that I turn invisible when no one is looking.

Back To Hell - Diablo 3 on PS3.

What have I been doing at home these days other than watching Breaking Bad?

I went to HELL.. AGAIN..

Despite spending hundred and hundreds of hours on Diablo 3 on the PC, I am doing it again on the console.

The Good:
  • You can play offline
  • You can share screen with 4 other friends
  • You have this Evade button which put the game to a whole new level. It's almost like playing a new game. It's not so level and item dependent as the PC version. You evade and roll around and beat it like how you would on Mega Man.
I believe this is the thing many wish to find out.
  • IT'S RAINING LEGENDARY ITEMS!!! (I probably have an answer for this.)
The Bad:

  • There is no auction house. So you don't actually get to buy items and money seems secondary. Which is probably the reason why legendary items are easy obtained in single player mode.
  • There is no PVP mode.
  • The long mins of waiting for your friends to change their gears or choose skill on the same screen. It's really time wasting especially when you are starting a new game together with 3 others.
  • The social element of it is very weak. Cause adding any new friends on the PS3 is simply adding them onto my PS3 account and not the Diablo 3 account. I wouldn't want to mix my PS3 friends with my Diablo 3 friends. and not everyone is on this game as compared to a year ago on the PC.
And why am I still playing it? Comon, it's Diablo 3. You have no idea how many man hours I spend playing the same thing over and over again for Diablo 2. It's a classic!

Mr.Smith, for once, going to hell seems like a good thing.

Are Singaporeans ready to have sex in the public?

Sorry for being a little slow on this as I was swamp by work. Anyway, Got picture got talk. See first, discuss later.

Base on awesomesauce, this is Singapore Clark Quay and the couple was having sex in the public and everyone was watching. For all you know the girl fell down and pulled the guy on him. Or worst, it is another viral campaign for maybe Asiaroom campaign name: "Go get a room."

One thing I feel fishy about this picture is that this is the ONLY picture and the others in this picture ain't holding their camera phone up. This picture ish notch simpur.

Regardless the authenticity of this picture, do you think such things will ever be legalize? I doubt so, regardless of which country you are at but the world just can't stop giving me surprises.

You might not be able to fuck someone in the public but by all means go have a good time with your left hand says Sweden court.

Yes, you read me right, read about it on the article below.

Public Masturbation Declared Legal in Sweden After Landmark Trial

What does this means? I have no idea what does this mean frankly. This means you can do it everywhere and anywhere? I guess places like comic con, IT fair is going to get really messy with our famous local show girls walking around in short and skimpy clothings.

Mr.Smith, there is always a right place for the right activities I guess.

Brought to you onto sunny island Singapore by the good people of kinetic, scotts square and mikanbako - #Uu3D.

What is #Uu3D?

In summary, it is a popup exhibition plus 3D printing service where equipment and talent is fly in to Singapore from Japan. When I first saw this service + event on Facebook I was already pretty interested in it as this is not my 1st time looking at 3D printing BUT this IS the 1st time I'm looking at 3D printing for consumers purposes.

In fact months ago my cousin was discussing about this product with me. He ask me for my professional opinion on how can 3D printing make money. Yes, the discussion was about making money at consumer level. My cousin is an engineer and according to him, 3D printing is largely used in his industry for parts or prototype development but he is interested in bringing this into the consumer market. At that point of time, I did gave it a thought but we ended up with a conclusion that currently it is not quite possible. Price aside, what would you wish to print in 3D and that is useful and legal? Yourself?

Months Later.

Indeed, kinetic did bring the technology in and indeed the primary objective is really "yourself". What makes the exhibition really interesting is the whole presentation. In fact the very 1st reaction when I got to know about this event was "I thought Kinetic is a creative agency right? Why are they doing consumer product now?" Later did I find out that #Uu3D is really more of an exhibition than a shop.

Typography.

I'm a sucker for this and must say that really caught my eye. The CAPITAL U and small u which represents big and small you. The series of posters they did was neat, clean and brought out the message pretty instantly.

TOWKAY. FYI towkay is the picture of the 3D figure and not a photoshop version of TOWKAY.
Uu, it's just like you but a much smaller version. Not much like how it was in Austin Powers but in the 3D printing format. All it takes is 30mins of scanning and capturing data points of you and you will see yourself in a smaller version.

They even had this write up on the wall that came in both CAPS and small.

What is this for?

In fact, this is the part that I have to give it to Pann and Carolyn - founders of Kinetic. During the opening speech where they were sharing some insights with the guests they told us how they 1st discover 3D printing in Japan and how they bring it over to Singapore. My favourite part of the opening speech has to be when they were trying to explain why they decided to bring it into Singapore - For Fun. They honestly mentioned that it is expensive to do a 3D figure of yourself and yet they still did this popup store not looking for a profit(which i really do believe considering how expensive it is to get a mini version of yourself), it is about sharing technology and science but in a form of art. They also open this exhibition to schools where schools bring in their student to learn about this technology. I can't remember when was the last time an agency did something for passion and art instead of "clients' KPI". From the look of the shop and all, it is pretty obvious the investment has to be a pretty big some of money and it is all for the "fun" of it. #Respect. Doing something you think it is right purely base on feeling and passion. How I wish I can stand up to that motto and live my life everyday that way.

CEO of Mikanbako - Wataru, 1st gentlemen from the left. Carolyn and Pann in black on the right.
It is actually pretty heart warming reading the exhibits where each of the "models" share a little story of themselves.
Childhood dream come true? Having a toy figure of yourself.
My personal favourite has to be the exhibit where they shared the story of kinetic. I also like how Pann talked about Kinetic being a family where everyone worked together as a team. Something I always believed in. The mindset of "we" instead of "me". The culture which is pretty hard to find these days especially not in agencies where we are well known to job hopping.

My favourite figure has to be Janet. Look at those inks!
Pann and Carolyn
Daniel Boey
The famous David Gan
How?

So how does this work? Walk yourself into scotts square and get yourself scan within 30 mins. Pay and wait for around 3 months for the mini u to be sent over from Japan to Singapore.

As it is a "bulk" order, thus the shipping takes awhile longer. So, how much does a 3D figure cost you at the #Uu3D exhibition?

Small - $850
Medium - $1,000
Larger - $1,500

Questions?

We have plenty of questions for this 3D printing technology. We asked so much and I've learnt so much. Below are some of the Questions and Answers I can share. I hope I got them right.

Are the colours painted on or print?
printed on.

Will the figure get disfigured in water?
Apparently one of the figure did get caught in the rain and got the colour faded but it was okay running under the tap.

Can I do post scan edit?
They could but no, not now. They ain't gonna make you look slimmer.

Can the figures stand on it's own?
It really depends on what you are wearing and how you stand. The figure is a mini you but it's just a figure. Don't expect it to do yoga stunts.

Can I send in a picture or must I physically be there?
Technically you can but due to license issues you are not allowed to in this exhibition.

Can you do one naked? (Guess who asked this question.)
Technically yes, but no, not the one in Singapore.

And the future of 3D printing?

It's hard to say. Carolyn pointed out a very good example about hard disks and thumb drives back than and now. Who knows where this technology will end up one day? Everyone might just have one at home but frankly my question is still why would I need a 3D printer? I can scan something I already have at home but the material is different and that means I might not be able to use it the same way isn't it so?

You didn't ask me but...

I can't say enough how inspired I am by the people at kinetic. Not just because of the exhibits but because of the attitude of it. Like I mentioned it's just a popup exhibition which means this will end before you know it. So better go catch it while it's still around.

Uu is at Scotts Square, 6 Scotts Road from 21 Sep - 6 Oct 2013. Daily from 10am to 10pm.

Close-up of a 3D figure.
MR.SMITH or mr.smith, still as awesome but too bad not famous enough to get free figurine and not rich enough to blow $1,500 on it either. HAha.

Someone shared this with me when Will pass on and I thought I would like to share it here.

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed
he was walking along the beach with the LORD.

Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of
footprints in the sand: one belonging
to him, and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.

He noticed that many times along the path of
his life there was only one set of footprints.

He also noticed that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it:

"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow
you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when
I needed you most you would leave me."

The LORD replied:

"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

I am not a Christian but nevertheless I think this is a very interesting and inspiring story in its own way. Just like how sometimes children will never see how much the parents have sacrifice for them.

Mr.Smith, always look at the big picture before whining and victimizing yourself.

Remember the Black Box I told you guys about sometime back then? If you don’t remember this is what black box is about.
Black Box is the first free unisex lifestyle sampling box in Singapore and we want to encourage responsible sampling, introducing products by sending you the latest or tried and tested products by the Black Box Team for your sampling!

All you have to do is subscribe on www.BlackBox.sg and it’s absolutely FREE!

Black Box gives you opportunities to not just sample products but also to sample lifestyle treats via Black Box Vouchers! The Black Box team is constantly on the lookout for exquisite shopping/spa/dining deals and discounts to share with Black Box subscribers.

If you have not subscribe to Black Box, you will notice there is a pouch that contains the vouchers or catalogues are always in a different design for every Black Box Edition and It becomes a “collectible” eventually!

Black Box also wants to provide an all-rounded sampling experience,
therefore you will not find 2 moisturizer samples by different brands, or 2 types of hand cream samples in the same Black Box, because otherwise how would you know which to try out first right? We only have that many face or hands! :X

They also encourage our subscribers to try out the samples immediately and give them our feedback, therefore Black Box also gives subscribers a chance to win full sized items if they complete a survey on the samples that they received in their very own Black Box and submit to Black Box via a simple online link within a limited period of time.

And in the most recent Black Box I’ve received:

  • Purer Skin Miracle Serum
  • Dettol Radiance 250ml
  • GlucosCare Tea
  • Darlie Expert White
  • Zappy Sampler Pack

The good thing about Black Box is that it’s full of surprises and at the same time very practical. It’s like getting a chance to test the items before buying the full size product and it’s all free!!!

I especially like this month’s Zappy Sample pack as there are a few products in it. It includes:

Zappy Sun System Sunscreen Wipes
Zappy After-Sports Wipes
Zappy boy Antiseptic Wipes
Zappy Insect Repellent Wipes
Zappy boy Alcohol Wipes

And they are all useful in different situations and I actually finished them in no time. Good thing is that we can easily get them at NTUC, Giant, Cold Storage, Unity and Guardian at around $2 - $5.50 per pack.

On top of this, we have the Dettol Radiance Body Wash that is already my usual choice of body wash. When I think of Dettol I related it to clean and that’s what I am looking for in a body wash.

I don’t know about you guys but I always thought that all toothpaste are the same as long as you remember to use them and brush regularly and I really don’t pay much attention to what I buy. Darlie Expert White that is also included in this box gives me a different perspective of it. If it wasn’t because of Black Box giving me a chance to use a sample size toothpaste, I would just keep sticking to my usual brand. Cheers to brighter smile!

Good news is that you can be part of this too!

Simply subscribe at www.BlackBox.sg  and key in “SmithBB” in the referrer code column and stand a chance to receive your very own FREE Black Box!

Mizuno PAssion Mt Faber Run For The Moment!

Fat Boy Smith

I can't say that running sports has always been my thing considering the fact that I've never ever completed even my 2.4km only until my National Service. I was a fat boy(actually still, just more active.)and it just takes too much effort to do any sports. I do spend some time playing a little basketball with my brother as well as soccer during secondary school days but I was never really into any of them.

National Service changed my life, I got healthier, fitter and doing sports got enjoyable. I started running, more balling, inline skating, cycling and whatever not but sad to say my bad eating habit manage to keep me a big guy.

Feeling the ground

Above all, running is one of my favourite as completing each run gives me a good sense of achievement and running the distance keep me focus and other problems off my head, because it's so tiring I've no time to think of anything else. And I like the feeling on the ground and each step you take is a step closer to the ending line.

I did a 21km when I was in army and I joined a few other 10km run there after but I was never consistent because of injuries on and off. Sports is never good once you killed the momentum because of injuries or simply because you get lazy after awhile. You have to keep doing it and keep the momentum up! And the best way to do it is getting motivation from the community!

Mizuno PAssion Mt Faber Run X Blogger Challenge 2013

All thanks to Mizuno I am now part of this League of extraordinary runners! What so extraordinary? Because we ain't all the crazy iron man runners but we all run in our own ways! The best part is that it is not all competitive about who can run the fastest but more about doing it together! Read the profiles to find out who these champions are and also for a good laugh and you stand a chance to win something too!

She is going to kick whoever who overtakes her. HAHA.

Former fat girl and my Punggol kaki!

Mr.Tony Starks. Not because he is as handsome or rich but he is iron man!

Watch out for the drunken run!

About The Run

The race is on this coming 13th Oct and the starting point is actually at Bukit Merah View Blk 121 & 123 (Open Space). HDB area! Pretty interesting considering the fact that we only run at our own neighbourhood. Who travels around just to run at others' neighbourhood right? So I heard the run is going to be uphill! OH MY GOD! Good Luck Runners! Wait, that's me! More information here.

This song should totally be the event's theme song!

Mr.Smith, excited about this run!!

Justice For Tammy The Dog.

I have no idea how I actually missed the news. I guess I was on course and work has been busy. In fact i felt like I totally felt off the surface of the (social media) world for awhile. Considering the fact that my last blog post was so long ago!

Enough of digression.

"Dog Murderer" and poor victim Tammy.

Image from The Real Singapore.
In case you are as slow as I am, this is how the story goes in short:

1. Woman adopt dog.
2. Woman claims that dog shows aggression and wish to return to foster
3. Woman did not return but instead when to the vet to put it down.
4. Vet put the dog down.
5. Foster went to look for the dog and can't and and found out this traumatizing story.

For full story: TRS

Because of this incident, the Facebook page of The Animal Clinic, a page with 700 fans have a talk about rating (PTAT) of 1,100. The power of Social Media especially when it comes to a mistake, moreover a mistake that involves a life.

1. So let's take a step back on what actually happened here. According to the foster the dog has show no aggression previously. We have no idea how the family was treating Tammy. From a dog owner perspective, there's a lot of times that it's us human making the mistake in pissing them off instead of the animal making the mistake. Just look at dog whisper (the tv show), it's more often the human getting the training than the dog.

2. The foster already mentioned that she is going to take Tammy back so why is there a hurry to put a life down? Did the dog attack anyone with that short timing? Or is it a one sided story to victimize this adopter?

3. Why did the vet put the dog down if her comment was that the dog is actually in the pink of health? I will never doubt an integrity of a vet frankly. From my understanding that there are many doctors who are doctors because their parents made them one or for other reasons but as far as I know, every vet I've met is a pet lover. So is it really more than meets the eye?

4. Why ain't the TAC or this lady speaking up if this is really a "one sided story" of the foster? I am not defending TAC or the vet but neither do I want to jump onto the band wagon and just point finger at TAC. Not that I think Tammy deserves it, I am an animal lover and I think it's pitiful that Tammy is put down this way but I still prefer to look at the "Full Story".

All these being said, it is really hard to find out the "truth" so I hope we don't jump into any conclusion here but there is something which I felt is very badly managed here: TAC's Facebook page.

Maybe killing a dog will not affect your business, maybe killing a dog ain't a crime for say but frankly "threatening" the fans ain't going to help the situation. I seriously don't see the point of putting such a message on your Facebook about taking appropriate action in the event of any defamatory statement. If you wish to address this issue than share your side of the story and not put up a message in this way. In case you guys are wondering, my vet is from TAC as well but a different branch.

You didn't ask me but...

I have a dog, a Cross pinscher also known as a mongrel or better known as Brover!

I adopted this silly boy last December at an estimated age of 2 and a half. I was attracted by him because he looks like one of those big dogs that I really like but ain't HDB approved and the good news is that he is small. In fact he is as small as my cats.

We almost didn't bring him back because the lady at the foster says that he is bad with cats and will kill my cats. Against all odds we decide to adopt him because he was very loyal, he always follow the foster around at the boarding area.

We visited him for close to 3 months at the home before bringing him home while waiting for the renovation of my new place. We visited him to build the trust.

At the beginning, he didn't like the cats and the cats didn't like him either but we took our time to let them get use to each other, 1 day at a time. It's not all fairy tale and this did not happened overnight, in fact it took us almost a year before you can see them nicely on a single frame.

It ain't all smooth sailing to have Brover at home. Unfortunately for my wife, Brover is very attached to me and sees me as his alpha. He is so protective that he would attack my wife in scenario when he thought my wife was going to attack me. In fact he attacked my wife in a few situations when he wasn't very comfortable with my wife touching him and the wounds was pretty bad I would say. I even had the idea of giving him up but the thought that he would be heart broken and have to go back to a foster or some other family to start a new breaks my heart. The thought that this cute little boy going through all these changes and getting used to something new again stopped me. And I know I will miss him.

I wouldn't say he is all nice now but i would say we have learned how to handle him. For example not touching him in quick motion, warning stranger only to touch him when he ask for it and shows comfort and such. I think when it comes to pet, patience is very important and knowing how to handle him is really an art. I am glad I still have him by me.

JUSTICE FOR TAMMY

In any case, I think Tammy's death is really sad. It is a good wake up call and message to all dog lovers out there. Dogs are cute and fluffy but it is also a commitment as well as responsibility, as soon as you have committed to it you have to stick through it. It's unfortunate to Tammy and I wish we can have justice for her.

Not sure about the source but it is being circulated around the web.
Mr.Smith, RIP Tammy.. :'(

What will you do for the love of the game?

There is something about me that many might not know and it is the fact that there was a period of my life that I spent more time watching soccer than basketball during my school days.

And during those days everyone around me was rooting for Man U and I was more of a "free thinker". I have no commitment to any specific teams but I do have a favourite player who is Gabriel Batistuta who doesn't play for the BPL.

I am not hardcore soccer fans but I do enjoy watching it as a sport as well as the times we spend hanging out with the boys. We will spent weekend evening watching soccer, drinking beer soft drinks, eating peanuts and our favourite local past time - "Talking Cock".

Teenager being teenager we do not have money to wage on the game to make it more excited like some like to put it. What we will do will be "betting" on things such as "Eh, if Man U tonight don't win I will change my name to tortoise." or something along the line. I am sure everyone been through that and experienced that before! Right?

Guess what? Carlsberg brought this "game" back and now you can win more than just having your friend's name turned to Tortoise Lim.

TestYourFaith.sg

Check out TestYourFaith.sg and make your pledge and stand a chance of winning the grand prize of an all-expense paid, VIP Carlsberg BPL experience for two in UK, to watch a live BPL match and visit their team’s home ground.

From the celebration of all the goals scored at BPL to the immense amount of loyalty displayed by the fans, such moments definitely call for a Carlsberg.

So to launch this campaign, Carlsberg generously invited Kevin and I to the screening of Chelsea Vs Tottenham game at Wala Wala! And guess what? Kevin is a Man U fan like many Singaporeans and I am erm, still a man with no team loyalty but I managed to get a jersey from a friend and to crash to party we were dressed in the "wrong" jerseys!
I thought the girl on my side looks really cute.
And guess what? We made some pledge on that night too and for those of you who remembers the score line, we did not win and we were lucky enough to get selected onto the stage to do our pledge - HARLEM SHAKE.

We looked like we were high on drugs.
And guess what? They even have a video of that on Facebook. =.=

So that was be having a fun night watching soccer, drinking beer and testing our faith! Don't forget to make your faith and stand a chance to watch BPL LIVE!

Mr.Smith, OLEEEE OLEEE OLEEEEEE~~

After much anticipation the day has finally arrived and we conquered Mt Faber!!

The run was really good one for me as it has been awhile since I join such a run and the good thing is that it's not exactly a huge massive and badly managed run. It was a good 3300 of us and the run was pretty smooth! I think it is a very good run for runners who are scare of big crowd.

But the up hill killed me and I was so tired trying to run uphill and more often I was walking my way up!

Seriously why did I agree to join this run? Woke up 5am on a Sunday morning!
Team Punggol who was there like way too early!
Before the run!
All these girls who claimed that they can't run but actually run very well!
Bump into a friend - Weekee! Miss working with him and all those time we spent playing board games together!
WE ARE DONE WTH THE RUN!
Doing what blogger does best!
Me and Ah boi!
Ah boi and her same phone sibling.
My ex, colleague Rachie.
Carrie saying HEY~~
Jac very angry cause she is sweaty and unglam.
Cheryl Tay, the one who really runs and Daphne, the one who lifts!
Us showing "World Of Sports" some love.
I'm really done with Mt Faber for now I guess but I will keep on running! It is really too challenging for me for now!

Mr.Smith, CHEONG AHHHH!!

Parents Outraged by Teacher "ABUSING" students from Raffles Girls Primary School

Generally when we talk about angry people, I think mostly of this guy:

Until this dude got really popular:

Truth is that, the angriest people around us is ourselves. Yes, Singaporean.
Welcome to Singapore.
From TRS: Parents Outraged by Teacher "ABUSING"  students from Raffles Girls Primary School.

So in summary, parents found out that the teacher has been "abusing" the kids by making them stand every morning for 15mins for more than 3 months.

I think it's easy for all of us to throw in comments like it's just standing or it's really no big deal. Children are weak these days. Is it really the children or is it the parents? Or is it simply the "system" again? In fact, I am not a fan of how our education's discipline system is today.  I am not saying that we should start beating the kids up like in the 60s or 70s but I feel the lack of fear makes teaching difficult.

In leadership as well as education, using "love" is the best way and the only way to have respect is to earn respect. As easy as it sounds it's not easy when it comes to dealing with young mind. I think a little bit of fear works the best for them.

I've heard it too often that parents are the biggest issues for most teaching professions. They are over protective and unreasonable and causes student to not respect the teaching. They have this bad mindset that says "my parents can set everything straight cause my parents are the one paying for your job." I am sure this is not the first time you heard something like this.

We need balance in everything in life, we can't live in a world where it's all love and no fear. Imagine a world with no law and order and just love and compassion? I believe in compassion and I am learning compassion but there are things that needs to be set straight. Isn't law and order a type of fear? You are afraid to break the law cause you will get fined, you will get punish and hang. So why take this away from the teachers and make things so difficult? Is giving kids the green house the best way to grow up?

I can make a wild guess and say that this is what it is today because most parents grow up the hard way and don't want their kids to go through it the same way but think again, isn't all these "pain and agony" makes you who you are today? Growing up means going through things and you finally get better. It ain't an adventure if everything is smooth.

It's very easy for me to say now because I have no kids but trust me, my (future) son will have the most fun as well as pain. My rule of thumb is simple, "If you want to get into a fight, you better win that fight."

This song probably has no link to this article but I am sharing it.

Mr.Smith, everything that kills me makes me feel alive. Embrace pain and live BIG.
